Marathon Training
I'm kind of creating my own training plan by combining Hal Higdon's Marathon Training Plan - Novice 1 with the Smart Coach from Runner's World. The Higdon plan tells you miles to run, but the Runner's World plan gives you some times to set as well as incorporates Tempo and Speedwork runs. I didn't want to commit to just one plan, so I'm combining them. We'll see how it goes.
Half Marathon Training Plan
I have decided to change my running plan. I'm going to do the Hal Higdon Half Marathon Novice Plan. This one is 12 weeks and allows you to switch things up quite frequently.
The One Hour Runner
I'm not really sure where this plan came from originally, but I found it best written out at Mind Plunge . This is the plan I'm going to use next to hopefully build up to running for an hour and eventually a 10k. This plan lasts for 10 weeks and builds you up to running for 60 minutes. It is best to be comfortable running for 30 minutes before you being this program.
Couch to 5k
The Couch to 5k program is great for beginning runners to build endurance and confidence in their running abilities. I have used this program multiple times and I find it very enjoyable. The program lasts 9 weeks and builds you up from running 1 minute intervals to running for a full 30 minutes. I highly recommend it.
